Do I want to change?
Whether you are ready to make changes to your lifestyle will depend on how you are feeling at the time.
It may help you to discuss with your healthcare professional which of the following statements describes you best:
Avoiding
You are not thinking about any change. You are not bothered and don't think any change would actually do you any good
Thinking
You are thinking things through and trying to work out how the changes are going to affect you. You are not sure what you are going to gain from the change and have been thinking through what you are going to miss if you change.
Preparing/Planning
You have been planning how you are going to change and have made some preparations to help with the changes you are going to make.
Starting
You have actually started doing things differently; eating different foods, taking more exercise.
Keeping it going
You have seen some results from your efforts and you are encouraged to keep going.
Relapsed
You feel disheartened and wonder why you bothered. You don't feel inclined to start with change again.
By finding out where you fit, your healthcare professional will work with you to find the right set of goals to help you achieve some change. Don't feel you are on your own. Look for support if you need it.
