Living with my Diabetes Snack ideas

Some times it is hard to decide what you should eat between meals especially if your blood sugars are low.  This is a list of suitable snacks for you:

Fruit, eg banana, apple, orange, pear, small handful of grapes ·
Cereal with semi-skimmed or skimmed milk ·
Bread or toast or mini pitta bread ·
Plain biscuits, lower fat varieties include garibaldi, rich tea or fig rolls
Natural or diet yoghurt
Rye crispbreads
Crackers
Water biscuits
American bran muffin
Tea cake, Fruit buns, Pikelet or crumpet
Plain scone or fruit scone
Breadsticks – on own – or with low fat dip, eg tomato salsa
Rice cakes
Raw vegetables, eg cucumber, cherry tomatoes, carrots, celery
(eat these foods on their own ONLY if blood sugars are high as carbohydrate foods are needed to prevent ‘hypo’)
